SUMMARY:City Council Candidates Forum
DESCRIPTION:CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES FORUM\n\n \n	\n Leaders of the Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce\, WIZS-1450 AM radio and The Daily Dispatch have announced a Henderson City Council candidate's forum.\n\n \n\n The candidates will appear before the public on a live radio broadcast at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon\, Sept. 22. The forum will be held in the county commissioners' room at the Vance County Administrative Building\, 122 Young Street\, in Henderson.\n\n \n\n A preliminary survey of all eight candidates for the four council seats indicates 100 percent participation. The trio of entities putting on the event will also solicit and include audience participation.\n\n \n\n Candidates will be given two minutes for an opening statement. The question-and-answer session will include 60 seconds for each answer from candidates.\n\n \n\n Questions from voters can be submitted in advance and upon arrival at the event. As many questions as time permits will be asked\, with some duplication of topics adjusted to avoid redundancy. A panel void of conflicts of interest will assist in paring down submitted questions.\n\n \n\n The forum wraps up with each candidate having 90 seconds for a closing statement.\n\n \n\n Questions of candidates can be sent to rsvp@hendersonvance.org.\n\n \n\n The forum will be available for replay on webcast at wizs.com\, and The Dispatch will provide coverage at hendersondispatch.com and in the Sept. 24 print edition.\n\n \n\n Doors open at 4 p.m. Candidates have been invited to meet with voters before and after the event. The forum itself is expected to run about 90 minutes.\n\n \n\n The City Council seats up for grabs in the Oct. 8 election are at-large Ward 1\, at-large Ward 2\, Ward 3 and Ward 4.\n\n \n\n Sara Coffey is challenged by Charles Douglas for the at-large Ward 1 seat\; Mike Inscoe is challenged by Arnold Booth Jr. for the at-large Ward 2 position\; Garry Daeke is challenged by Geraldine Champion for the Ward 3 seat\; and Vernon Brown is challenged by Fearldine Simmons for the Ward 4 position.\n	Click here to edit...
